Today's discussion will be focused on caring for and growing cabbage. Fresh cow dung works particularly well in this type of farming, but rotten dung and chemical fertilizers are more beneficial in this regard. Flowers or fruits are ready later when more fertilizer is applied to other plants, but if more manure is used, the produce is edible sooner. The plant's growth is slowed down by a tiny reduction in water, yet it rots when its roots receive too much water. It shouldn't have a propensity to clump together like soil.
Cabbage cannot grow in soil that turns hard after being moist; the soil should be slightly sandy while still remaining loose.
Only the early developing species are suitable for the Indian plains; there are several kinds, some of which take up to 6 months to mature. There is a lot of variance in shape because the winters are short here; some leaves are so little and some heads are so flat that they appear to be laying on the ground; only light colored cabbages are visible. Some of the leaves are plain and some have fringe; they are grown in India's plains. More than 500 types of seeds are available from American seed retailers.
Cultivation of cabbage
It is a crucial vegetable during the Rabi season. A helpful leafy vegetable is cabbage. The Mediterranean and Cyprus are said to be the region of origin. It was introduced to India by the Portuguese and is made there all over. The unique sweet aroma, which is also known as cabbage, is caused by sinigrin glucoside. It is abundant in vitamins A and C, as well as the minerals calcium and phosphorus. It is taught by drying and making pickles, then used as a vegetable and salad ingredient.
Atmosphere
Cabbage has a particular ability to tolerate frost and high temperatures, but it needs a cool, moist climate for excellent growth. Due to its environmental suitability, cabbage seed germination is optimum at 27 to 30°C, and it produces two crops. Due to the intense cold in the mountainous regions, the world's spring harvests are taken.
Land
It may be grown in a range of soils, however sandy loam soils work best for early harvest while heavy soils like clay silt and loam work best for late and high yields, as long as the pH of the soil is between 5.5 and 7.5. The land is suitable for agriculture. To prepare the field, plough it lightly and level it with a tractor or soil-turning plough on 1st July.
Seed quantity
Depending on when it was sown, one hectare of cabbage can be grown with 500 g of early varieties and 375 g of late varieties of seeds.
Cauliflower fertilizer
For a good yield, cabbage requires a lot of nutrients. To properly fertilize it, 300 quintals of well-rotted manure per hectare, together with 1 quintal of neem leaves, neem buds, should be applied after the day.
For chemical fertilizers, 120 kg of nitrogen, 60 kg of phosphorus, and 60 kg of potash are needed; the whole amount of phosphorus is to be applied first, followed by half of the recommended amount of nitrogen, and the remaining nitrogen is to be applied one month after planting.
Cauliflower irrigation
Cabbage crops need irrigation after transplanting, therefore it's crucial to irrigate right away, followed by watering at intervals of eight to ten days, remembering that the soil is deeper when the crop is ripe. Water is necessary to prevent the blossom from bursting.
When the flower is full and of a suitable size, cauliflower can be harvested. If there is a large demand for a product and a high price for it, harvesting can be done fast. Cutting is done using a knife.
If there is a strong demand and price, harvesting can be done sooner after separating the blooms by size.
